Hello Fellas,

I had some free time today and decided to push the weight limits of my Edge 540 by installing a Canon SD450 digital camera to it. The camera weighs in at just over 5 oz. It is one of the smaller on the market. This camera allows for unlimited 640x480 video (About 8 minutes with a 512mb card). Anyway, the weight was definately noticeable, but the plane flew like a champ. I must say that it had been quite a while since I had built a plane when I put the Edge together, so it came out on the heavy side at the high side of 18oz loaded. With the camera, that put it around the 23 oz range. Not the weight you want to be pulling hard dives with, but man I got some great first time footage. I managed a few rolls with ease, and a couple of loops. I just wanted to let folks know that this little plane can really pack the payload.

I am running the Torque motor with the Apex 1350 packs. I have a video that is just under 6 MB (Heavily compressed). I will leave it up here for folks to see for a while. I made a simple mount out of lightweight spruce. Anyway, take a look at the video

Thanks Woody.

I ordered another Edge Plane today. I want to build the new one using more weight saving techniques as mine is a bit overweight. Here is another one that I did around my house. Pretty tight flying space...

Sorry about that Gooney. I moved them around a bit. Here is a link to all four of them.

How about turning the camera around and recording where you are going, rather than wher you've been? A vertical, power off dive with hard aileron roll from directly above your head would look cool; not to mention low, high speed passes by yourself with a shallow dive entry! :D

I just found the one I just asked for... :o

You have me tempted to try undertaking a similar shenanigan!
