Yes you do Paul...mine flys so much better with it than the 11x3.8.

I am about to complete building the Yak. Can't wait to fly it.
My flying buddy has a Himax 2816-890 which I can lay my hands on. I have been told that it may be too powerful for the Yak. Looking at the motor specs, it does seem an overkill. Is the Himax ok to be used on the Yak?
Will be using CC Phoenix 25, and Common Sense 1500 15C Lipo. As for prop, probably sticking to the 11x4.7. Have not weighed the Yak, but will probably end up on the higher end of the weight scale as I will probably reinforced it a little as I am new to RC plane.

Paul, you mention that you use a Hitec Micro RX. I'm assuming that's the new HFS-05 that replaced the old 555? I'm looking at that same receiver. I have an older Futaba 6 channel (6XAS). Will that receiver work well with that transmitter. The only thing I was wondering was about the single conversion deal. The 555 that I have in my other plane is dual conversion. What do you think?

I've been using that receive and have had no trouble with it.

Airnerd, does your motor get hot with this setup? My experience with the Park outrunners is that with the prop you are running the battery and the motor both would be over-amped. Are you having any problems with it at all?

So far on the Yak and the Edge my preferred setup is:
Hyperion 2213-20 motor
Titan 20amp Controller
10x4.7 prop
Lightspeed 1300 3s
Waypoint 9gr servos
Hitec 555 Rx
Polk Seeker III
4.25" CG
Throws all @ 120% with -40% Expo on Ailerons, -30% on elevator and -10% on rudder.
I have started flaperon coupling with the elevators for some pretty insane loopability. Harriers & waterfalls are pretty interesting when you can drop some flap.
I haven't yet put it on a scale, but the one I am flying now has lights that added about 7grams.

Paul, what's is the reccomended ESC settings for the Hacker 20-20L on another plane, slight noise (Raspy)
Trying the Hacker out to get feel for best set-up till I get Airfoilz, Apex 3s 1350 Mah Apex,11.4.7, longer flight times using (10.4.7) * possibly bit more precise hovering using the 10.4.7 prop combo.
I compared 4 similar motors w/same props, the Hacker has my vote on price-perf. Compared to few similar rated B/L motors, Hacker is quite impressive

We use default settings, as the ESC comes.

Hi Everyone,
My setup is:
Hacker A20-22L
CC Phoenix 25
TP1320 3S lipos
APC 10x3.8"SF
HS65 servos
Berg 7P
I get 210W peak with my setup, and this settles to around 190W. :D
The serovs are strong and no blowback is experienced.
The receiver and speed control are rock solid as with my other castle creations products.
This setup exhibits great spool up, minimal torque (easy to hover, easy knife edge loops) and moderate demand on your packs relative to some other setups. I prefer my setup over the A20-20L and 10x4.7"SF.
Thanks for the great products Paul! :)
Regards,
Shaun Price
