Hi guys... I would have never found you if I had not seen the video of Jordan on youtube! That inspired me to buy and now I am going to fly for the first time your plane today.
This is my sixth plane build and as always I learned new things. I used quik cure 5 minute epoxy and never used epoxy on hinges before. Less is more! I got to much on the elevator hinges, they work but I quickly changed the amount I used on the rest.
The carbon tube and threaded rod thing did not work out for me. The threaded rod was to large OD for the ID of the carbon tube:eek: I even tried drilling out and grinding with my dremel tool. I found a great fix at the hobby shop, they had a bag with 3D control arms for $2.85:D
I will make a seat belt this morning for the batt. and go fly around noon. Going to be 85 degrees with 5 mph wind today, I will try to get video for a youtube playback. I have been flying for six months now so no crazy stuff, just getting the hang of it:D
Here she is...

NICE! The blue looks pretty good! On my first edge i did the vinyl on top also. I makes it look real clean that way and gives your plane a little bit of a unique touch. I try to make all my planes a little different to make it stan out a little bit :) Very nice build, it look real clean! Glad you liked the video! Thanks!

Well guys..... She is sweet!
We had a wind from 5 to 10 mph.... I am a little stressed on first flights  . She flew great, I am uploading video to youtube right now. Here's your bummer.... Just seems that all landing gear has troubles. Yes... I am no seasoned vet of flying, but I did not slam down on my landing. Landing gear block cracked and gear fell out on second flight  had to land on bottom of plane. This seems kind of bogus... maybe a pre made plastic block would work better? I think the plane is great... I think you need to upgrade the landing block thingee. Charging Batteries now to go fly again later today. Any advise on repair of landing block? I will use some CA and see how that works.

Dang! did you use dental floss? That shouldn't have happened. Thanks for the credits!

I used dental floss, gorella glue and clean the block for good fit. It was very tight when I put the landing gear in, like it would not go all the way in. I tried sqeazing the gear together. Should I replace it? Can I replace it? If I could grab it in the air like you... I would care LOL! I will learn, keep working on the flight simulator:D

PKing, you can repair the block by removing it and using thin CA, and wrap it with the spiderwire - see Landing Gear thread. Also, you need to reverse the block so that the solid piece of the wood side is aft - the aft side takes the brunt of the moment induced on landing - most of the abuse. So, make sure the thick part of the block is aft.
I know alot about crashing...you could say:D

I followed the LG block assembly instructions to a "T". My gear has taken some pretty abrupt and severe loads landing in tall grass, touching down with a fair amount of forward speed... flipping the plane upside down and bending the gear pretty good. But no failures on the block, yet. I like the spiderwire idea, though. Strength to weight is phenominal, and it is easier to come by than unwaxed dental floss, me thinks. I will be starting my 2nd and 3rd builds soon; one for me as a backup plane and one for a friend. I learned a good bit on the first build, these should go quicker and come out much closer to perfect. Dang, these things fly good! :D
