I've never used vinyl decals before. What are the steps for applying them to my Yak?

Thanks,
Terry

Hi Terry,

I did a search and couldn't find any posts on the subject, although i am sure i have seen it covered in these forums before.

Most guys add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to about a cup of water.
Put this into a spray bottle and wet the back of the vinyl and the plane also.
Lay the vinyl down and slide into position.
Use the edge of a credit card as a squeegie and force as much water out as you can.
Leave to dry!

Thanks Coonak, but I guess what I'm asking is how do you get the vinyl off the paper backing and onto the model? I'm used to regular decals where you soak them in water to release them from their paper backing... is this the same for vinyl decals?

Thanks,
Terry

Terry,

There is no need to soak the Decals.
Just cut them out carefully and peel them away like any normal sticker.

I would use the method i described earlier to set them on the plane, as that seems to be the most popular choice amongst Airfoilz builders, and worked a treat on my Airfoilz Planes!

Thanks, Mick. By the way, I like your canopy treatment across the top of the fuselage on your planes, it looks great.

In my biased opinion, it look spretty cool to carry the fuselage colors accross the top as well.

That does look Killer Socomon!
I like it!

Might have to give it a go on my next Foilz plane!
