Will begin building my Yak tomorrow and would like to use a small tail wheel instead of the wire.
Any suggestions for a tail wheel for this plane?
thanks

In all honesty, these Airfoilz planes do 360's on the spot with the rudder at full lock, without tail wheel.
I do agree that a wheel does finish off the overall look!
Falcon made a tail wheel setup for his Yak, maybe he can post some pics of his setup?

I bought one of the Du-Bro micro steerable tailwheels, and it works great. I just cut the wire from the original gear and bent it to fit into the rudder, through the steering piece.

Thanks fellows, I was wanting it more for looks and the Du-Bro looks like it will do the job.
I do have a question about the wings, one wing is quite a bit flatter than the other wing and even after putting the spar in it is obvious that the leading edge of the left wing does not have the same radius of the leading edge of the right wing. How much difference will this make in flight characteristics?
At the trailing edge of the flatter wing, there is about an 1/8 of an inch over lap, it can be sanded down I am sure, but this left wing just seems to be a bit of a red headed step-child now. :)
thanks

None that could be noticed, after 1000 plus planes, we have had NO complaints on flight performance due to a wing thickness differance, you got the same wings as everyone else. Do to the manufacturing process 1/16-3/32" is withing tolerance.

Not a problem, I can use the wings. I can see where during the folding process the one wing had too much bend put into it and that is why it is somewhat more 'flatter' than the other wing.
However, it would have been nice if during the packing, that the time had been taken to at least match the wings so that both would at least look like they belong to each other. I have one that looks anorexic and one that looks like it has been to Mcdonalds too many times. :)
One spar will go in real nice and easy, the other spar will be a PITA. I recall reading at RCG that some folks were have trouble with installing the spar; probably due to the inconsistencies of the manufacturing process some of the wings are coming up 'flatter' than other wings.

No the reason for the trouble was not following the procedure in the instructions (see the video). The flatten of the wings is not a issue, once you slide the spar in the wing. The wings are not RIDGE, you can pucker them to slide the spar in. As with anything in the Airfoilz line if we get enough complaints or suggestions we make adjustments, in the case of the wings their has been no major issues. But as I said before I will exchange them if it makes you happy.

Hogger,
do you have a picture of how you set it up?

I had to drill a small hole in the original ply mount for the two pins in the new micro gear to mount to the fuse. Then you can see what I did to attach the steering part to the rudder.

Looks good Hogger.
Might have to give it a try on my next foilz.

Here is what I used;

Well, here is the tail wheel that I came up with. I did not care for the white plastic Dubro assembly so I used the Dubro No. 375 nylon bracket with the No. 75tw tail wheel.
I epoxied wood to the bottom of the fuselage and then screwed the bracket onto the wood. Seems to work real wheel and I think is likely stronger than the Dubro white plastic tail wheel assembly.
Not very good pictures, but the plane is yellow and red with the inside of the wing panels being ivory.
