Well to make a long story short i fried 2 escs, 1 motor and possible a second. The first was the the hacker combo and the second was the replacement hacker sent me. To read the whole story go here. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=681850#post7407329 The conclusion was that the combo taht comes with the yak pulls to many amps. Is this true or is there another explanation?

Danny,
Sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with this set up. I've got a Yak 54 with the exact motor and prop, however I used a CC PHX 25 on mine and NEVER had a lick of trouble. Plenty of WOT flying, never got anything remotely hot! Sounds to me like you got a bum motor/esc? And are you sure you're running 3s and not 4s? Highly unlikely that you'd have a 4s pack as they are generally a lot more spendy and you wouldn't accidentally buy one of those!
Currently, I'm running my new airfoilz Yak with the scorpion motor you mentioned and have been absolutely pleased with it. As far as the ESC, you'll be fine with Scorpion's 25amp.
You might want to talk to 3dxhobbies as they now carry Scorpion products. Tell them your story and you might be able to work out some sort of exchange.

Yea i really think that a 25 amp would solve all hte problems. I was thinking about possibly exchanging the hacker for a scorpion if i get the replacement. I want to hear from paul to see if others had this problem with the hacker combo. This did happen twice so either i'm doing something wrong(called hacker and they cant figure it out but i set them pictures)or their is something wrong with the setup?

We have sold 1000's of hacker combos and have not had any problems, the only problem we had was with one of our team pilots, buring up the motor, but he puts 50 flight a week on them. I think it may have to do with their new x-20 esc.

Well i'm really happy with the plane. If i get a brand new replacement from hacker could i exchange it for the scorpion combo. I have had 2 hackers fry and hacker themself can find out what is wrong. with it.

..on Edge 540 with 10x4.7 (3S); pulls right ~20amps producing ~200 watts on my meter. It works GREAT. Castle is tough to beat; but regardless of the brand you choose; the lowest rating in the chain needs to exceed the highest amp draw you will see; personally, I prefer on the order of 5 amps or so "headroom" as a safety factor.

I know it pulls about 20 amps but hacker sure didn't. They assured me that it would only pull about 18.

20 amps is with a freshly charged battery going to WOT immediately. If left there, the battery will drop a bit of voltage in fairly short order and settle out an amp or two lower; so that sounds about right.
