The instruction manual for the Yak states that if HS-65's are used, the stabilizer (horizontal I assume) must be reinforced.

Any information you could provide on how to perform the reinforcement would be appreciated

thanks

We really have never done that, as we have not found it to be a problem, unless you fly really hard and put 100's of flights. All you need is carbon glued to the bottom to act as a spar OR you can glue on some tristock to the top and bottom at the fuse and stab.

Actually, this is interesting. I missed that in the manual. I have built many Mobius kits...so I just did the same build using the Yah...and checked the Yak manual to see the changed dimensions. I did NOT put balsa on the trailing edge of the hoizontal stab...because I forgot. Then I saw that you didn't ask for it.

Seems this would have stiffened things up. I rig up a Carbon reinforcement...probably on the underside.

I did put a balsa trailing edge on the ailerons. They were too flexible for my tastes.

The Yak just did not need the TE balsa like the Edge.

Paul,

Just some feedback, so I have been flying for several hours every day at the beach here. I would suggest the TE Balsa on the Horizontal Stabalize is a REAL good idea. Without the spar, it is by far the weakest part of the whole plane.

Not trying to give you more work...but just a thought.

Micky flew both the Yak and Edge VERY hard and the Edge stab broke but he never could break the Yak Stab, so that is why we never added the TE to the Yak.
