The plywood control horns are meant to be laminated together to form a 1/16" thick control horn. We changed this from the plastic do to the high performance of this design and should not be substituted. Our profile planes DO not need these and will not be provided as a "upgrade".
DO NOT USE TAPE IN PLACE OF THE PROVIDED HINGES!!!
The Extra 260 kits will now be coming with plywood control horns instead of the plastic ones. These horns are cut out of 1/32" ply and need to be assembled. The horn itself is made from 2 laminations that are glued together to form a 1/16" thickness. The support plate is one thickness of 1/32" ply. The best way to assemble the horn is to slide all the pieces together and then run some thin CA along the horn edges and in the joint between the horn and support. The holes for the clevis needs to be drilled out and then hardened with thin CA. The horns can be either epoxied or CA'd in place on the control surface. I always add a small fillet of glue between the horn and the support plate for added support.
For the pull-pull rudder horn, only put on one support plate while gluing the horn parts together. Add the second support plate after the horn has been positioned on the rudder, before the glue sets.
