i am running the turnigy 1050 with a 10x4.7 apc, seems to fly ok but a bit under-powered is there a better prop or motor for this plane for 3d flying like the e-flite 480? thanks jb.

Well, there are a lot of factors that determine how much pull. While you can always put a larger motor and bigger props (assuming that the motor and ESC can handle it) there is a point where a large motor will make the plane to heavy.
How much does your Yak weigh? I have the Yak with the Hacker 20-20L with a 10x4.7 and I am pulling 195 watts and 19 amps and it has more than enough power. It weighs 19 oz AUW with TP 1320 pro lite batteries. I have to check the actual thrust numbers (just bought a digital fish scales) but it will pull hard as far as you can see it.

my auw is 19oz. (yak,turnigy,1300tp,25ampesc,prop,etc..) and dont get me wrong it flies great it is actually better with a 10x7, arther than a 10x4.7 just looking for best performance ??? thanks jb.

Also are you looking for more speed? More thrust? Underpowered to some is not the same to others.
On my Yak I found I had more speed then I needed but less thrust so I propped for less pitch and upped the diameter. However my amps also took a hit from the heavier prop.
So just wondering what your aiming for in performance.

my goal is to have reasonable speed 30mph or so but full thrust for 3d hovering etc. am i asking to much in thinking i can have both i am new to hovering and 3d normally just a good park flyer but i have gotten better over the winter so now i want the best of both worlds in one plane????? i do not have a way to figure my wattage, thanks again jb.

Yes, it should have a lot of power. What is the AUW of this setup? What size batteries are you using and what are the C ratings?

Wow...you should be booming with that setup. My Yak is 20 oz with 1320 prolites and just over 200 watts. Your pull out from hover should be like a rocket. Have fun with it.:D
