Hello all, new to the forum and an electric newbie(I have been flying glow for 20 years). I'm going to buy either the extra 260 or yak full fuse to learn 3d. I have an E-flite Torque 2830T/1095 motor and hyperion 30A speed controller from a previous electric that I would like to know if they would work in these planes for that purpose. If so what prop and batteries would be recommended? I'm thinking either a 3 cell 1320 or 2100.

Thanks,

jim

Jim, just doing a google search on your motor it looks like you should have more than enough power, the 30 amp ESC should work OK with the motor also if it is for a brush-less motor and lipos. A 35 amp would be better if you intend to fly full throttle a lot. The recommended props are the ACP 10X4.7E or an 11X4.7E on 2 or 3 cell lipos. The 2100 will get you more flight time and you will not likely notice the extra weight.:)

The link above is where I found the info.
Have fun, these planes are a blast.

Bill, thanks for the quick reply and info. I agree with you about the 30a speed controller. When I had it on my mini katana it would cut off occasionally. I will definitely upgrade. :)

What prop were you using for the 30A to cut out?

The Hacker 20/20 is 1022KV and handles an 11X5.5E prop with no problems on an X20(20A) ESC.

I wouldn't think you would pull another 10A by moving up to a 1094KV motor. You may have been hitting the limits of your Batt and starving ESC, hitting the LVC.

The motor should work fine. 1320's might be a little on the small side for that motor but should be usable with conservative throttle management. 1800's would give you the amps you need. 2100's should fly fine as well.

Have Fun!
Andy

I believe I was using an APC 10 x 4.7 but I'm not sure. I'm away from home right now but I'll check when I get home.

Thanks,

Jim
