Hey guys I seen somewhere in one of the post a set up for the radio I am purchasing a new radio this week (DX6) and I never used expos and mixing on my nitro planes before and I am looking for some advice here for a good set up and maybe a link to help me understand better ( Flapperon, and other terms likes this that could be beneficial for me ,to help me learn to do some of the wild stuf that this plane is capable .I am stil building the plane (Yak 54) with a twist in the graphics should be able to post soon .

Thanks guys.

I don't use any expo, but 15%-20% would not hurt.

I use about 30% of expo and sometimes up to 50% depending on how much throw and where my CG is.

I use lots of surface throw, set dual rates and about 10% expo. Your DX6 does not have expo on the rudder but it does on ailerons and rudder. IMO you really do not need expo but it was there so I left on the Yak. I did need a bit on my Edge and that is where the 10% came from when I copied the program over. Don't worry about flaperon at the beginning. That thing will land so slow if you carry just a little bit of power. If I drop flaps on my Yak i have to mix down elevator and wait forever for it to come down :)
You will really like the DX6. No worries on range. Mount the Rx on the side with double sided sticky back velcro, hook side on the fuselage and smooth side on the Rx. Makes it easy to swap from plane to plane if necessary.
Hope this helps,
Gary

You mean ailierons and elevator? right?

Sorry about the mistake on expo on the rudder. Fingers are faster than the mind and I can find no edit button on my other post.

No worries on range with the DX6. Socomon flies DX6 and I have seen his planes high and far away, much further than I ever fly with no range problems.

Thanks Gary for the info on range i will have to pick up a couple of receivers for my other nitro planes, but i think the receiver has to be exposed ?????

Here is a set up procedure for the more conservative and us older generation. I set up low rates where full control of aileron and plane does the 3 rolls in a fly by from 45 degress right of you 45 degress left of you while you are at your pilot station.(fairly slow roll rate). The low rate elevator is set to do about a 15 or 20 foot loop with out stalling. The low rate rudder is set where full throw give a slight climb in knife edge flight.Be sure and do a CG check and adjust battery position so that when you are flying about 3/4 throttle and you roll inverted and do hands off the sticks that the plane only goes toward the ground slightly. On these low rates I do 30 % expo (less stick sensitivity) on these low rates which seems to help me fly more relaxed. For high rates I set max control throw and use 90 % expo. In max rates, when I have the tranny stick about 1/2 to 3/4 deflection, I try and get the surface deflection of the various surfaces to have what I get in full stick movement when in low rate. This way you can do the wild stuff when banging the sticks full throw, yet land the plane if you want to while in high rates. Great airplanes. IMO, I find on the Yak that you need to keep a little power on till almost the flare in landings where as the Edge will do power idle approach and flares nicely.
